Ballarat on the global stage: Visioning Conference 2015, Cuenca, Ecuador

Community day, Cuenca 2015 Ballarat's Historic Urban Landscape (HUL) program was showcased during a Visioning Conference in Cuenca, Ecuador on 7-8 May 2015. The key focus of the conference was community participation and sharing our experiences.

The conference included expert presentations, demonstrations of extensive HUL mapping undertaken by the Universidad de Cuenca and community workshops. The conference also included a drawing competition for local primary schools and a photographic competition. These competitions showed Cuenca's landscape through community eyes.

During the conference Cuenca joined WHITRAP's international HUL pilot program which Ballarat spearheaded. A key focus of the pilot program is information sharing and working together to further develop this new approach for historic cities around the world.
